For Engineers
Move Engineering Files at Engineering Scale
Send simulation outputs, large datasets, CAD models and project packages to clients and consortium partners. Full file integrity, customer-managed encryption and regional storage.
Engineering files routinely break consumer file sharing tools
Engineering work produces some of the largest, most precision-sensitive files in any professional discipline. A CFD simulation output can run to 100 GB per case. An FEA model with all linked subassemblies and load cases pushes past that. A multi-week measurement campaign produces datasets that take hours to upload. And none of this can tolerate modification in transit: a single byte change in a binary file can render a model unopenable or a simulation result invalid.
General-purpose file sharing tools were not built for this. Email caps at 25 MB. WeTransfer Free caps at 3 GB. Cloud storage services sometimes apply silent transformations to files they recognise. Specialised engineering data management platforms exist but assume enterprise budgets, full deployments and IT involvement, which is the wrong fit for consulting engineers, project leads at small firms and independent contributors to large consortia.
Engineering-grade file transfer without the enterprise overhead
TransferRocket transfers files bit-for-bit identical to the original. STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF, JT, simulation outputs, HDF5 datasets, CSV exports, calculation binaries: everything arrives exactly as uploaded, with no encoding changes, no precision loss and no metadata stripping.
Transfers up to 200 GB cover full simulation runs and multi-discipline coordination packages in a single delivery. Customer-managed encryption (SSE-C) is available for IP-sensitive work and defence-adjacent contracts where even the transfer service shouldn't be able to read the files. Storage region selection meets client and regulatory data residency requirements on a per-transfer basis.
Pay-per-use pricing means engineers and consulting firms pay when they deliver work, not on a fixed monthly cadence. For project-based work, that's typically far cheaper than subscription alternatives, especially in months between deliveries.
Why engineers choose TransferRocket
- Up to 200 GB per transfer
- Send full simulation runs, large datasets and engineering project packages in a single delivery.
- Bit-for-bit file integrity
- CAD, CAE, simulation outputs and datasets arrive exactly as uploaded. No metadata loss, no precision loss.
- Customer-managed encryption (SSE-C)
- Bring your own encryption key for confidential project work, defence-adjacent contracts and IP-sensitive deliverables.
- Storage region selection
- Meet client and regulatory data residency requirements on a per-transfer basis.
- Password protection on every transfer
- Free on every transfer. Standard for client and consortium work.
- Pay-per-use pricing
- Pay when you deliver, not every month. Better economics for milestone-driven engineering work.
Sending a simulation package to a client
You've just completed a CFD analysis for a client. The deliverable is around 45 GB: the converged solution, post-processed results, visualisations, the input mesh, boundary condition files and a written report with calculation sheets.
You package everything as a ZIP, drag it into TransferRocket, set a 60-day storage duration to cover the client's review and follow-up question window, choose an EU storage region for compliance, enable password protection and enter the client's technical lead. The upload runs in the background.
The client receives a secure link. They preview the report PDF in the browser, enter the password and download the full simulation package. You see the moment they access the transfer. The files automatically delete after 60 days, which suits your data retention policy as well as theirs. You pay once for the delivery.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I send simulation output and large datasets?
- Yes. CFD outputs, FEA results, HDF5 datasets, CSV exports and other large engineering data files transfer bit-for-bit identical, with no re-encoding. Transfers up to 200 GB cover even very large simulation runs in a single delivery.
- Can I send CAD and CAE files alongside reports?
- Yes. STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF, JT and other engineering file formats transfer with full integrity. Bundle them with PDF reports, calculation sheets and reference documents into a single ZIP transfer.
- How is file integrity guaranteed during transfer?
- Files are uploaded and downloaded over TLS-encrypted connections. Once delivered, the file is bit-for-bit identical to the original, with no compression, transcoding or modification at any stage of the pipeline.
- Can I send confidential project work?
- Yes. Password protection is free on every transfer. For projects requiring stricter privacy, customer-managed encryption (SSE-C) lets you provide your own key so neither TransferRocket nor anyone else can read the files without it.
- Can I meet client data residency requirements?
- Yes. Choose your storage region per transfer. For European clients with GDPR obligations or for clients with specific regional data requirements, select the appropriate storage region at upload.
- Is there a subscription required?
- No. Pay-per-use pricing means you only pay for transfers larger than 5 GB, with no monthly subscription. Good fit for engineers delivering project work on milestones rather than continuously.
